STRAIGHTENING YOUR HAIR TIPS

Straightening your hair at home is quite easy when you follow these safe and effective tips by world renowned hair specialists.

1.    Straighten your hair not more than 3 times a week to minimize        damage;
2.    Wash with a good moisturizing shampoo, put leave-in                    conditioner and let hair dry naturally before you start the                straightening process;
3.    Start the straightening process when hair is still a little moist;
4.    Use a wide tooth brush and comb downwards to the hair tips        repeatedly in smooth motion while holding a hair dryer in the          other hand. The dryer should be pointed downwards and              follow the comb in the downward motion;
5.    Comb small sections at a time until the hair is dried and                  straightened;
6.    Check your hair in a mirror to ensure that you have not                  missed any sections;
7.    If your hair is fine and fragile, turn down the dryer’s heat;              otherwise you may put it close to the maximum heat for faster        results;
8.    Avoid spraying water or adding mousse to your hair as it will          cause your hair to curl;
9.    If desired, you may complete the straightening process by              using a flat iron.

Additional tips for flat irons:

1.    If you intend to use a flat iron, invest in a quality unit due to            better heating surfaces and more temperature control options;
2.    Use thinner flat irons as it will give you more movement                  flexibility;
3.    Pull the flat iron in smooth fluid motion to avoid horizontal              lines indentation in your hair;
4.    Don’t leave the flat iron at a particular spot for too long as the        heat will damage your hair;
5.    Use hair protective spray to minimize damage due to heat.
